DataNumen, a leading provider of database recovery solutions, announces the release of DataNumen SQL Recovery version 1.1. The program repairs damaged and corrupted MDF files, recovering deleted or lost records and fixing broken database structure and data.

A damaged structure of a database can lead to many problems. Reading, writing and accessing such a corrupted database will be affected, if not worse. But errors and damages in a huge base can be catastrophic.

DataNumen SQL Recovery aims to fix multiple problems Microsoft SQL Server database files may have, by performing thorough and in-depth analysis of virtually every single byte of the problematic MDF file to provide a fixes for a host of typical issues. In particular, it can fix broken structure and data of the database, recover data of all data types, except XML, and recover deleted records and empty columns.

MDF is the main database format for Microsoft SQL Server, so DataNumen SQL Recovery supports all versions and types of this format, including SQL Server 2005, 2008, 2008 R2 and 2012 MDF formats.

One of the major advantages of the program is that it can process a batch of databases at once. Fixing multiple files is as easy as fixing just one: a simple drag and drop operation not only performs recovery of the selected MDF files, but also checks, and if needed, fixes all associated NDF files too.

“Consistency of MDF files is a pledge of firm and reliable operation of any Microsoft SQL Server database. And DataNumen SQL Recovery helps retaining such consistency,” concludes Chen Chongwei, president and chairman at DataNumen.

It is cool to embed Flash SWF files to PowerPoint for vivid presentation for your students, colleagues, boss, customers etc. However, you may find it impossible for embeding SWF files to PPT as PowerPoint can't support SWF embedding.

The latest version of Apple's operating system could be presented on Tuesday, September 10 alongside the new iPhone 5S, according to an email sent to developers at software publishing firm Nuance and leaked to American tech website The Verge.

Apple first presented the latest version of its iOS last June at the start of the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). Apple's Vice President of Design Jony Ive headed up the project.

After losing some of its technological edge over Google's Android system in recent months, Apple focused on giving the new version of its iOS a streamlined interface and an enhanced feature-set. Apple's Vice President of Design Jony Ive headed up the project.

A completely redesigned interface

The interface has been entirely revisited and presents an even cleaner feel, using transparency, overlay and 3D effects. It has also shed the element of "skeuomorphism" -- the tendency to approximate the appearance of objects from real life -- in the calendar and the notepad, for example. Two oft-criticized applications, Maps and Siri, have both been updated.

Among the defining features of iOS7 is a new control screen, which can be reached at any time to change the settings of the device without closing open apps. Multi-tasking will be possible with any combination of apps, as a simple swipe allows users to switch between them.

Unsurprisingly, a number of the new features in Apple's latest OS are already present on Android. The multi-tasking features, easy access to settings, photo features and automatic updates for apps are all present on Google's OS.

In terms of new features, iOS7 will provide iTunes Radio, a free service that allows users to create playlists based on a favorite genre or artist. The service will be integrated into iTunes across all platforms (Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV), but launched only in the United States.

The update, which presents the most significant overhaul of iOS since its original launch, will be compatible with all devices launched since the iPhone 4 and iPad 2.

iPhone 5S to debut on the same day

Apple is expected to release the iPhone 5S on September 10, most likely alongside a new, less expensive phone with more modest performance, known for the time being as the iPhone 5C.

Among other prevalent rumors swirling ahead of the launch is that of a fingerprint reader on the iPhone 5S, which could be used for enhanced security features. There are also whispers of a more powerful processor, an increase in camera resolution to 13 MP, a double flash, and a new home button.

As simple as it is to use the iPhone, managing content between an iPhone and a PC can be a surprisingly challenging and frustrating task. Here's how you can tackle it without wanting to throw your phone against the wall.

There are three ways to transfer content from an iPhone to a PC: syncing via iTunes, manual transfer using Windows AutoPlay and using third-party software.

Solution 1: Sync iPhone to PC using iTunes

Syncing is the easiest way to transfer content from an iPhone to a PC. Syncing transfers all types of content at once and easily keeps both devices up to date.

To sync an iPhone with a PC, you need to have the latest version of iTunes and use either a USB cable or Wi-Fi.

Syncing via USB cable

Open iTunes and connect your iPhone using the USB cable that came with the device. Click on the Device button located in the upper-right corner. Configure the types of content you want to sync, and then click Apply to sync your iPhone with your PC.

Syncing via Wi-Fi

To set up Wi-Fi syncing, open iTunes and connect your iPhone via USB. Click on the Device button in the upper-right corner. From the Summary tab, select "Sync with this iPhone over Wi-Fi." Configure the types of content you want to sync, and then click Apply to enable syncing via Wi-Fi. Syncing will begin any time your iPhone and PC are on the same network, whenever iTunes is open on your PC and when your iPhone is plugged in to power.

Manually sync via iTunes

Both of these options also allow manual syncing for more control over which content you want synced between your iPhone and your PC. To turn off automatic syncing, open iTunes and connect your iPhone to your PC. From the Device screen, open the Summary tab, select either the "Manually manage music and videos" or "Manually manage music." option and click Apply.

Solution 2: Manually transfer iPhone to PC using Windows

In addition to manually syncing content between your iPhone and PC using iTunes, you can manually transfer photos using Windows AutoPlay, a device media management tool. This is the preferable option for those who need more control over where their photos are stored on their PC, and the process is similar to importing photos from a digital camera to a laptop or desktop computer.

To manually transfer photos from your iPhone to your PC using Windows AutoPlay, connect your phone to your Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 PC. The AutoPlay window will appear. Click on "Import pictures and videos." (By default, your photos will be transferred to your My Pictures folder — click on Import Settings to change where your photos will go). Click Import, and the transfer will begin. Windows Gallery will automatically launch, and you can view your imported photos once the transfer is complete.

Running Windows XP? Use the Scanner and Camera wizard instead, which automatically appears when you connect your iPhone to your computer. Follow the on-screen instructions to begin importing.

Solution 3: Transfer iPhone to PC using third-party software

For those who need fully featured solutions, iTunes and Windows tools prove to be very limited iPhone content management tools. Using third-party apps, you can have more control over transferring all types of content to and from devices. Some apps are free, some are paid, some don't work and some are illegal.

Here are four popular iPhone-to-PC apps that iPhone users love:

1. Aiseesoft iPhone to Computer Transfer --- It enables you to transfer music, movies, TV shows, podcast, iTunes U, ringtone, ePub, PDF, audio books, camera roll, picture, voice memos, camera shot, SMS and contacts from iPhone to PC or iTunes for backup and safety

3. Wondershare MobileGo for iOS --- It can transfer music, movie, pictures, TV shows, Podcast, iTunes U, eBooks, Camera Roll, voice memos, camera shot from iPad/iPod/iPhone to computer or iTunes and transfer files from computer to iPad/iPhone/iPod as well.

4. Tipard iPhone to PC Transfer --- It provides the perfect solution for iPhone, iPod, iPad, which can help you to transfer movies, music, podcasts, TV shows, audiobooks, and photos on your Apple products to PC and iTunes. It can also transfer and backup iPhone SMS, Contacts, Call Lists from devices to PC. What's more, you can backup all your SMS/Contacts as database files to PC for safety.

Microsoft Corp (NSQ:MSFT) takes on Google's Motorola Mobility (NSQ:GOOG) unit this week in the second of two landmark trials between the companies that delve into hot disputes over the patents behind smartphone and Internet technology.

The jury trial, starting Monday in federal court in Seattle, is set to resolve whether Motorola breached its contract with Microsoft to license on reasonable terms its so-called standard essential patents, covering wireless and video technology used in the Xbox game console.

Microsoft, Motorola set for second round of trial over patents

The proceeding comes days after Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer unexpectedly announced his retirement. It also follows a complex trial last November that decided what the appropriate fee for Microsoft's use of Motorola-patented technology should be.

After five months of deliberation, U.S. District Judge James Robart came down heavily in Microsoft's favor, saying it owed only a fraction of the royalties Motorola had claimed, suggesting the appropriate rate was about $1.8 million, above Microsoft's estimate of $1 million, but well below Motorola's demand for as much as $4 billion a year.

Motorola cannot appeal Robart's April ruling until after the jury decides the second phase of the case.

In a court filing, Microsoft said it had offered to pay Motorola $6.8 million in past royalties, based on its application of Robart's order. However, Motorola rejected the money, the filing said.

In the forthcoming trial, starting with jury selection on Monday, Microsoft will argue that Motorola's initial demand was exorbitant and a clear breach of its agreement to charge reasonable and non-discriminatory terms - commonly referred to as 'RAND' - for technology that is an industry standard.

Microsoft and Google declined comment on the trial.

After the result of the first trial, Motorola may have an uphill task in persuading a jury that it did not breach its contract. But Microsoft might not be able to recover huge damages, either.

"I think the interesting question is, assuming the court finds that Motorola breached its obligation to offer a RAND license, what is the remedy?" said Mark Lemley, a Stanford Law School professor who has been following the litigation. "No court has addressed that issue before."

In its quest for damages, Microsoft will introduce evidence about how much it had to spend to relocate a facility in Germany as a result of an injunction that Motorola won in Europe, according to court filings. Robart later ordered Motorola not to enforce that injunction, and Microsoft claims it should be reimbursed.

Microsoft will also seek legal fees resulting from the injunction fight.

The argument between Microsoft and Motorola - and by extension Google, which now owns it - is just one facet of a wide-ranging global patent war surrounding smartphone and Internet technology that has drawn in Apple Inc (NSQ:AAPL), Samsung Electronics Co , Nokia (HEX:NOK1V) and others.

At heart, the companies are arguing over who owns the technology and design features behind smartphones, which are now essentially small computers.

More particularly, Microsoft has been locked in a battle with Google to ensure that handset makers using Google's free Android phone operating system pay Microsoft a license fee. Most large handset makers, such as Samsung, LG and HTC (TAI:2498), have agreed to pay Microsoft a royalty on Android handsets that Microsoft believes may infringe on its patents. Motorola, which was bought by Google last year for $12.5 billion, is the last big holdout.

Robart gave each side 16 hours of trial time to present their case to a jury.

The case in U.S. District Court, Western District of Washington is Microsoft Corp. vs. Motorola Inc., 10-cv-1823. (Reporting by Bill Rigby in Seattle and Dan Levine in San Francisco; Editing by Ken Wills).

Apple’s share of the global tablet market dropped by about 14% on-year in the June quarter, and the company’s slide was even more severe in China.

According to new data released by IDC on Wednesday, Apple’s tablet market share plummeted 40% year-over-year in China in the second quarter.

Apple’s tablet share plummets 40% in China

The Financial Times reports that Apple shipped 1.48 million iPads in China during the June quarter, according to IDC’s numbers. That was good for just 28% of the tablet market in the country.

In the same quarter last year, IDC said Apple’s share of the Chinese tablet market was 68.2%. Apple’s iPad shipments grew in China during that time period, but nowhere near as briskly as the overall market thanks to the explosion of low-cost Android tablets led by white-box vendors.

With the world waiting for Apple’s upcoming iPhone event on September 10th, the company is busy behind the scenes and also publicly with developers trying to finalize iOS 7, the mobile operating system that will soon power the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

Apple iOS 7 beta 7 to be released today

Last week, Apple released an emergency bug patch that the company referred to as iOS 7 beta 6, though Apple had actually planned on sticking to its regular release schedule with a different update called beta 6 today.

We are told by our trusted sources that Apple has once again seeded a new build of iOS 7 to partners, and that it should be released to developers later today.

We can confirm the build number is much higher than the previous beta, and we would assume that iOS 7 beta 7 should be distributed and made available for developers around 1:00 p.m. EDT, as usual.

We previously reported that Apple would only release six betas, but with the iCloud patch the company released last week, today’s release will make it seven. This should be the final beta before the gold master is released next month, we are told.
