Import MOV files to Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 12

Published on March 24 2013

Q: "I'm using the new Vegas movie studio platinum 12 to edit .MOV files. The audio in the file will repeat from the beginning half way through the video despite the fact that the waveform for the audio shows the original audio is there. I am a PC person so I dont know mac stuff at all. and this is a very time sensitive problem. Any suggestions?"

A: "Converting the files was the best option. Even though .mov files are listed as compatible with vegas 11 & 12, they are buggy. I recommend rendering the video out as an avi or wmv and then importing it.

I was using longer files that were an hour and a half long and the audio would mess up the way I described in my OP. I had the current version of Quick Time installed and then I tried an older version that was recommended. Neither worked. If you run into this problem, convert the file to your favorite format that you know works with vegas."
