Samsung Galaxy Note 6 "Lite" LEAKS. A Cheaper Note 6 Option?

Samsung is said to be working on a cheaper Galaxy Note 6 variant with lower specs, but still packing a Snapdragon 820!

We know the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 is going to appear at some point this year, possibly bucking its usual September IFA expo launch and coming earlier, over summer (July/August), if some rumours are to be believed. Samsung's phablet is always equipped to flagship level with a high-end processor, display, and camera tech on top of the extra screen real estate and S-Pen stylus functionality, it also usually packs a big battery cell - but all this high-end tech comes at a cost, and particularly with the large expensive display panel and advanced stylus features, this makes the Galaxy Note series one of the priciest phones you can buy.

But according to the latest rumours and leaked details there may be a second version in the works with a lower spec and cheaper price point.

The word comes via Chinese sources on social network Weibo, and it's claimed that the Galaxy Note 6 "Lite", as it's being referred to, will be the same size as the Galaxy Note 6 with a 5.8in display, but it'll be 1080p rather than QHD. There's also some detail regarding the processor, which doesn't sound like too much of a downgrade really as it's said to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, the current high-end Snapdragon model - it's expected the full-fat Galaxy Note 6 will get the upgraded Snapdragon 823, however.

It'll also have less RAM than the Galaxy Note 6, with the Lite model sporting 4GB instead of an upgraded 6GB or even 8GB depending on which sources you believe. Anyway, with this spec we're expecting a reduced price, but perhaps not massively so, as this is still a pretty competetive set of hardware. There's currently no word on internal storage or camera tech at this stage, and we don't have any suggestion of a possible price point other than the notion it will cost less than the regular model. Frankly we'd also be surprised if the "Lite" moniker turns out to be the actual launch name.
