Import MKV files to Windows Movie Maker

"Just downloaded some movies in .MKV formats which I want to do some editing with Windows Movie Maker. However, when I tried to import MKV file into Windows Movie Maker, it didn't show up. Why is this? How can I fix it?"

MKV is a container format which is used to store common multimedia content, like movies or TV shows. It is not a workable format for Windows Movie Maker who natively deal with AVI, WMV or MPG perfectly.
